Felt green hat braided - Gem。This is a striking black felt fedora from the fashionable 1940s\'! The crown is low and points towards the front at the top. The short brim tapers down towards the sides, but extends at the back, helping to keep the hat in place. There is a beautiful curvature of the brim, covering one eye at the front. There is an olive green shiny fabric band surrounding the crown, ending in a folded over shape at each side of the back. Some olive green beads are attached there. At the front there are green feathers plus a velvety rose and petals at the center. There is an elastic band attached to the inside to help keep the hat in position on top of the head. The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular. There is no designer label, indicating it was a custom-made creation. Please keep in mind that you are buying a vintage hat, not new nor perfect! This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years.
