FABULOUS 1960s\' TAN LEATHER CLOCHE STYLE HAT + BEIGE GROSGRAIN TRIM & SIDE BOW

This is a beautiful tan leather hat in the cloche style of the 1930s\', but is from the 1960s\'. The leather is still soft and supple. The shape of the crown is round, and has a short, downturned brim. There are beige grosgrain bands crossing the crown, and a large, flat bow of the same materiel is at one side. The inside is lined with a shiny beige material.
Cloche hats or otherwise called slouch hats were a very fitted hat usually made of a felt material that were bell shaped. The front brim could be floppy or sturdy and was used to cover the forehead and eyes. Hats were normally worn asymmetrically & slightly tilted or propped to one side of the head.
Labels: GOTTLIEB NEW YORK + WOOLF BROTHERS - Based on search results online, there was a \"Gottlieb\'s Department Store in Atlantic City, New Jersey\" that sold various items, including hats. Woolf Brothers was a high-end retail clothing store, not just a hat store. It was known for its upscale clothing in Kansas City, and they sold hats as part of their overall apparel offerings. The store had a reputation as an elite shopping destination.
