Design & Mechanics: Unlike hook & loop hardware, this handcrafted piece features an open-back, double-bar friction slide configuration. It was specifically made for wide, luxurious Victorian and Edwardian fabric sashes—such as velvet, woven silk, or supple leather. Fabric end of choice is threaded under the set of back loops on each side, over the inner bar, under the outer bar and pulled tight. The tension of the fabric against the brass bars creates a secure, adjustable friction lock to cinch the waist without needing prongs or holes.
